Every Bigcat is made by hand, one step at a time. Six of them, and the reason no two blades leave the shop the same.

A glowing billet of layered steel under a hammer on the anvil

Two steels, 288 layers

15N20 and 1080 forge-welded and folded into one bar. The layers are the pattern, not a print on the surface.

A red hot blade going into the quench oil

Hardened in oil

Brought up to heat and quenched, the step that puts the hardness into the steel.

Sparks coming off a blade held against the grinding wheel

Ground blade by blade

The bevel, the belly and the point shaped on the wheel, one knife at a time.

A Damascus blade in the acid bath, the pattern coming up

Etched to wake the pattern

An acid bath darkens the 1080 and leaves the 15N20 bright, so the layers step forward.

Hands stitching a leather sheath on the bench

A sheath cut for this blade

Leather wet-formed around the knife and stitched by hand, with a snap strap to hold it.

A cloth wiping a coat of oil down a finished blade

Oiled, boxed, ready

It ships under a coat of oil, so it reaches you bright and ready for the first day out.

Bigcat Knives

OUR STORY

Built for the wild ones who won't settle

Bigcat is made for the people who ask the most of their gear: hunters out before first light, campers who keep going where the trail ends, and collectors who can tell real Damascus from a print at a glance.

Every knife is designed in the USA and handcrafted by skilled craftsmen in Wazirabad, Pakistan, a city known for its knife makers for centuries. The one you carry is made to be used in the field and kept for good.

  1. Designed in the USA

Each Bigcat is designed here, for hunting, camping and everyday work outdoors.

  2. Handcrafted in Wazirabad

Skilled craftsmen with generations of experience make every knife by hand, not on a factory line.

  3. Real Damascus steel

288 layers of 15N20 and 1080, forge-welded and folded, so the pattern runs through the steel instead of sitting on top.

  4. Made to be collected

No two blades share a pattern. Carry yours into the field, or give it a place in your collection.

A lightweight but impressive lady

My second Big Cat knife, and I have to say they're consistent. A great little knife in the $50 range with all available styling. The blade is a solid ladder Damascus with a decent edge that needs to be re-profiled and consistently maintained for field use. The handle is quite beautiful and decorative with a good feel. My only issue with this knife is the weight, or lack thereof! It's light! And by light, I mean liiiight. It feels like a paperweight, causing concern for the overall integrity of the knife if used in the field. Otherwise, I'm satisfied and would recommend Big Cat in the inexpensive blade market. 4-5 Stars.

Extremely sharp

I discovered this knife company for the first time and decided to order two knives. The initial one was a Christmas gift for my son, and I was so impressed that I got one for myself too. As you can see, both knives were incredibly sharp right out of the box. The delivery was prompt, arriving the next day, and the packaging was quite impressive, with the knife carefully wrapped in oil and plastic. My wife is also a fan and is considering ordering one for our youngest son. It just proves that you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars for a high-quality Damascus steel knife.

I've purchased the 110 folding blade, and this one is equally impressive

Very nice-looking Damascus blade, nicely finished walnut handle. The blade was fairly sharp, but not to a polished finish. It can cut paper, though. The only negative comment is on the sheath; it looked like someone was a little hurried through the stitching process. It's a keeper.

Decent for 50 bucks

It has no weight to it and feels like the handle is hollow. As for the blade, it's alright but could be better.

This piece is sturdy

I just received this, so I don't know how resilient it is. The knife itself is well made, comfortable, and sharp. I've been looking for a long knife like this, but most are over $100, and I don't make a lot of money. The sheath is well made too, so that tells you a lot. I'm very happy with it!
