Wood and metal spacers ring the walnut handle. The 5 inch blade is real Damascus, so the pattern runs through the steel.
Bigcat vs a budget Damascus-look knife
Plenty of knives sold as Damascus at this price are one plain steel with a pattern etched on top, finished by machine and packed with a nylon pouch. Yours is pattern-welded from two steels, finished by hand and carried in a leather sheath made for it. Here is the difference, line by line.

OUR STORY
Built for the wild ones who won't settle
Bigcat is made for the people who ask the most of their gear: hunters out before first light, campers who keep going where the trail ends, and collectors who can tell real Damascus from a print at a glance.
Every knife is designed in the USA and handcrafted by skilled craftsmen in Wazirabad, Pakistan, a city known for its knife makers for centuries. The one you carry is made for real work outdoors.

Customer reviews
Sheath seems to be the wrong way round?
A really fine knife with a robust sheath! However, the sheath is positioned backward. The knife draws opposite of what you're used to, which will take some getting used to. I also wish they had done a better job sharpening the knife; my expectations were higher. Nevertheless, it's an overall great knife.
Superb Quality
Excellent value for your money. This knife is exceptionally nice. It could use more sharpening, but considering the quality for around $35, it's remarkably good.
This is a Top-notch Quality knife
This knife is well made and feels balanced in hand.
