It is a pull cutter. The hooked blade and the finger ring mean the knife does its work as you draw it towards you: opening boxes, cutting cord, rope and line, general utility. It is not a skinner and it is not a camp chopper.

The Karambit Desert Fox is the odd one out and our smallest knife: 8 inches and 5.5 oz. The 3.5 inch Damascus hawkbill has its edge on the inside of the curve, so it cuts as you pull, and the finger ring is cut from the blade steel over a full tang. It suits utility work like cord, rope and boxes, and it looks like nothing else on a shelf.

Bigcat vs a budget Damascus-look knife
Plenty of knives sold as Damascus at this price are one plain steel with a pattern etched on top, finished by machine and packed with a nylon pouch. Yours is pattern-welded from two steels, finished by hand and carried in a leather sheath made for it. Here is the difference, line by line.

The grandchildren adore the knife
I bought this knife for my grandson as a Christmas present. He has a fondness for various types of knives, and I believe he will be genuinely excited. From a proud nana.

Top-notch quality; watch the oil when opening
The finger hole was a little small, but then again, I have big hands.

Beautiful, but...
This is a beautiful blade with nice metalwork in making the Damascus steel pattern. However, the big drawback is the finger loop, which is really rough and cuts you if you go in one direction on it. Also, there's a burn mark on the top of the blade. In terms of usefulness, it's a one star, but for beauty, it's a 5 star. Overall, I'd give it 3 stars.

Very well made and certainly worth your money
The knife is exceptionally well-made; the handle securely locks into your hand, and the Damascus pattern is stunning. The blade is a bit dull, but it's nothing that poses a significant issue.
